Adam Zehner (The Ballad of) by Marji Hazen
Adam Zehner arrived in Philadelphia in 1754. His hardy pioneer spirit has been an example to all the Zehners who are his descendants and we Hazens too who are the descendants of his great-grand-daughter Malinda.

Air Conditioning Lament by Marji Hazen
Some people can't live without air conditioning in warm weather. Me? I'd rather open the windows and, on the hottest days, turn on an electric fan. Of course, this song probably would have limited application in Florida or Arizona.

Ana Bahebek  A little comic song about an Arab maiden that has more bite nowadays than it had forty years ago.

Anhydrous Sulphide Blues  based on a true incident in the annals of good old American Free Enterprise.

Atlantisby Marji Hazen
Certain archeologists have suggested that the faces, the creatures, and other designs carved in bas relief on South American pre-Columbian temples are actually writing. Some have even suggested the writing may go back to an earlier civilization ... somewhere.

Bobby's Lullabye  During the first set of lean years, when I didn't have enough money to buy a baby present for the new arrival, I'd make the mother a lullabye. (See also Laura's Lullabye). Bobby was my sister's second son.

Boucher et Fragonard  Sounds like a sprightly minuet, but this is really kind of a sad song.

Bread and Oleo

Chicken Run

Clear the Deck by Marji Hazen
This is a true story from the end of the Vietnam War. It was written from a news story released by the Air and Space Museum at Dayton when the plane was placed as an exhibit.

The Farm

The Flood on Killbuck Creek by Marji Hazen
There was a terrible storm in our area July 4, 1969. Twelve inches of rain fell in twelve hours. Among the many amazing true stories folks tell about that time is this one of Old John who disappeared along with his trailer home along the Killbuck Creek.

For the President's Lady

The Garden of God

Johnny Appleseed  by Marji Hazen
John Chapman was not just a frontier legend. He was a real person who actually owned land in what is now Green Township in Ashland County, Ohio. And his mortal remains are buried on a hilltop in Fort Wayne Indiana. For the rest of his story, see the Ashland Genealogical Society's biography of Johnny Appleseed  ... and this song.

Joy Joy

Lambkin

Prayer  by Marji Hazen
I think I wrote this one bird-full early pink and gold morning at Camp Friedenswald in Michigan the year I was a counselor there.

The Rape of Mt. Gilead
