A Word About Funding

The Council on Aging has many funding sources. Our base funding is Federal Funds which determine the services that we offer. These funds must be matched with local dollars in order to be received. Local sources of funding are:

v  United Way of Ashland County

v  Ashland County Commissioners

v  Mohican Area Community Fund

v  Townships

v  Villages

v  Clubs and Organizations

v  Donations from Users of Services

v  Bequests & Memorials

v  Donations from Private Individuals

v  Grants

There are no set fees for our services, however, donations are accepted and planned for, in our budget. A suggested donation for Congregate and Home Delivered Meals is $3.00 per meal. A suggested donation for Transportation is $4.00 per trip. No one is denied service for not being able to make a donation. Envelopes are provided for those who wish to make an anonymous donation.

Council on Aging programs and services are sponsored by Title III Grants under the Older Americans Act, administered through the Administration on Aging, Ohio Department of Aging and the District V Area Agency on Aging. The Ashland County Council on Aging is nondiscriminatory in services and employment.
