Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry about our Leonbergers. The Leo is a giant, heavy-coated breed used as a draft dog, water retriever, and child's playmate (with supervision as pups). Their size and obvious strength should discourage intruders. I always say “any burglar is bound to trip over a Leo in the dark!” Lord Byron's words well describe this type of dog. "Beauty without vanity, strength without insolence, courage without ferocity and all the virtues of man without his vices." The trick is to keep these words in mind when your puppy chews up your bedroom slipper! Leos mature mentally by 18 to 24 months, the physical takes longer.
Our goal is to breed mentally sound Leonbergers first, we breed for soundness and type next and we LOVE size
and bone. Our dog’s parents were imported from some of the finest kennels in Europe: Holland, Sweden, Switzerland
and Norway. These dogs do not drool, have luxurious coats and bodies broad enough to serve dinner on their backs.
We prefer our puppies go to loving homes as family members. Although we breed for show prospects, a good home
is our first and top priority. Leos do not do well living outside with no human companionship.
Puppies are born and raised in our home. Our dogs are rated Category 1 Excellent-Very Good, which means they have
passed, with the highest ratings, all of the Leonberger Club of America health and soundness tests. We supervise
the puppies 24 hours a day closely for the first three weeks so that their dam does not accidentally step or lay on them, and then the fun begins with their development of individual personalities, and our in loving human contact daily.
Puppies are thoroughly examined by a vet, had one set of shots, wormed and micro chipped before they leave here.
Puppies can leave at eight weeks of age. Each pup is sold with a folder containing useful information on raising it,
health record, and feeding instructions. Bevard Leonbergers carry an unconditional 72 hour guarantee. If your vet finds any sign of illness, we will accept the puppy back for refund, minus deposit.
Our policy for reserving a puppy is as follows. When, and if, you decide to acquire a Bevard Leonberger puppy please,
read the enclosed puppy contract, read it completely, sign and return with the deposit. After puppies are born, sexes determined and they are 5 days old a pre-payment, would be sent to us, this assures us that you do plan to take a puppy, it also assures you that the puppy chosen for you will best meet your family situation. If something unforeseen happens, on either sides, and we cannot provide a puppy to you from the next expected litter, we will let you know and you can decide if you wish to remain on our prospective puppy list. The deposit is non refundable.
We send periodic photos so you can watch your puppy grow. We wait until at least three to four weeks before
the first photos are sent as before that they are just small black spots on a photo. This way, families don't miss out
on the first eight weeks. When you fill out the questionnaire, please give us any and all information pertaining to your expectations for this puppy. We try to fit the puppy to its new home. We will choose your puppy at about seven weeks and will not let anyone else have it regardless of who gets here first!
We must receive full payment before the puppy leaves here. We will only accept a MONEY ORDER, CASHIERS CHECK for DEPOSIT and a MONEY ORDER, CASHIERS CHECK, OR CASH for BALANCE paid upon receiving of puppy. Our interest does not end with the sale. We are, as well, as the stud’s owners, are interested in owners who keep in touch and let us know their puppy’s progress. We are always happy to share our knowledge with you. If you have any questions about our dogs or policies, please feel free to ask, there are NO stupid questions regarding our beloved dogs and puppies.
BEVARD LEONBERGERS, will strive for the utmost in the breed standards, and their wonderful temperament, to ensure that this WONDERFUL dog will continue to be one of the best breeds, anyone could bring into their loving families. Our goal is to improve this breed, (if at all possible) as far as temperament, health, and all other factors important to improvement of the breed. Our Leos are from six generations of hips certified blood lines, and if raised properly, should be healthy family members.
So, when you pick up YOUR loving, beautiful puppy, you will know, we have done, everything possible to ensure a healthy, loving, bundle of happiness for you and your family, hopefully for many, many years to come! We will be with you throughout the lifetime of your furry family member, as our commitment to each puppy does not end with the pick up, but only a beginning of a beautiful journey together.
Our Leos are happy dogs who are treated like royalty (they are, after all, noble Leonbergers, and our family members) and we want to be sure any puppy we bring into this world will be given every chance to live a long, healthy, life and share with you it’s great capacity for love.
