The
first time my mother gave me some scraps of fabric my initial instinct was to
make a purse. I was very young,
about five years old, and my mother encouraged me to be patient and hand stitch
the sides of the bag. But I was just too excited and impatient to make those
painstaking stitches that took a lifetime for me to stitch.
I snuck into the living room and took masking tape and taped my bag
together. Disappointed with the end
result and embarrassed by my craftsmanship, I shoved my very first purse that I
designed far under the couch where my mother would never find it.
Hey guess what?
I’m still trying to make that great purse!
Since then, I just couldn’t stop
making bags and purses. I’m a bit
more patient today and I haven’t incorporated the masking tape into my
designs,. . . yet! I am a mother of
three young children. I do the bulk
of my work at night after my kids are snug
in their beds. Since my full-time
job is being a mother, my purse designing is strictly part-time so the
experience of turning my hobby into a business has been incredibly slow but
satisfying! I am an artist as well
and I have added a gallery section for you
to browse some of my paintings. I
only have a few up now but more is on the way!
In the mean time, enjoy my designs and please tell me what you
think!
For my purses, I have used new and
vintage fabric. Maternity
dresses have been made into purse liners and many of my zippers have been
recycled from worn out jeans. I look at clothing in a whole new light.
Most of my purses are made of designer fabric.
A huge part of my purse journey is just hunting down great fabric!
I’ve been in this business for just over a year now, so I’ve just
started to tap into the great depths of purse designing through my eyes!
I hope you visit my website often to check out what exciting new pieces
I’ve created into functional works of art!
