The strategic process is diagramed on the above.   For each of the steps in the process, the critical deliverables are listed in the table to the below.  The strategic process is a collaborative process.  Leaders from the different functions within the company – Marketing, Engineering, and Manufacturing - work together to develop the long term goals and objectives, assess the strengths and weaknesses of the company, and define their present position within the marketing.  Then, given this framework, the functions split off each to develop their functional strategy.  Marketing reviews the market:  customers, competitions, and channels.  Manufacturing appraises capacity, cost, cycle time, inventory/turns, and personnel for the company and the competition, today and requirements for the future.  Engineering looks at technologies processes, and products within the company and within the market today, and needs for tomorrow.  At this point, the leaders reconvene and review their respective plans with the team.  They make necessary modifications, put it all together, and the Strategic plan is done!  After a review with management, the Business plan is drafted.  The business plan outlines the objectives and actions required to be on the strategic plan for the next 12 to 18 months.  The business plan is the next layer of detail for the organization.  After the business plan is complete, then each function builds functional plans to manage the actions necessary by functions to accomplish the

business plan.  The functional plans include metrics to monitor progress.  This completes the initial planning stage of the strategic process.  They team monitors the metrics and the organization reviews the progress at least quarterly.  At each review, the plans are revisited and modified accordingly.  Below, major deliverables are listed for each major component of the strategic process.
