If you have been told you need a hysterectomy or oopherectomy, make sure that this is the best option for you. Recovery takes about four to six weeks, and healing can take up to one year and your hormones will fluctuate during that time. You will need to discuss hormone replacement with your pharmacist if you have had your ovaries out as well. Also, if you have cancer that requires surgery you will need to discuss all of the medication and vitamins you take with your oncologist to ensure they are not contraindicated.
