How to Raise Your Puppy

All Labrador Retrievers are great with children and make wonderful pets as well as hunting companions!  Our puppies are raised in the home and are socialized by our family, and are ready to become a part of yours.  A little loving care on your part will be rewarded with a loyalty unique to Labs.

All puppies are veterinarian checked, have one or two of their puppy shots (depending on their age) and are wormed twice.  If your purchase one of our puppies, we will provide you with the health record booklet and your AKC Litter Registration Form.  The Health Booklet contains a list of shots and wormings and when additional shots should be given.

We feed EAGLE PACK - NATURAL (purple bag).  The dry food is mixed with plain yogurt for three feedings per day for the first 12 weeks.  You may then decrease the feedings to morning and evening.  Follow your veterinarian's recommendations for the amount as your  puppy is growing and increasing in weight.  Make sure that the puppy ALWAYS HAS WATER AVAILABLE.

TRAINING YOUR DOG IS VERY IMPORTANT:

I recommend the following books and videos to assist you in your training either as a pet or as a hunting or field Labrador:

Training your Retriever by James Lamb Free
How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With by Rutherford and Neil
Retriever Puppy Training by Loveland and Rutherford

Your local bookstore and sporting goods store should have the above books or can order them for you.  Make sure not to overdo it.  Have fun!!
