My name is Laurel Anderson. I was born and grew up in Natrona Heights, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh. I went to Highlands High School. I graduated in 1988 and went to Penn State, where I majored in Elementary Education and graduated in 1992. I did my student teaching at Penn Hebron Elementary in the Penn Hills School District. I married my husband, Ed, in 1993 and started working for the Kiski Area School District in the same year. That first year, I taught second grade at Bell Township Elementary. Since then, I have taught sixth grade at Mamont Elementary. We have a Maremma Sheepdog, Francesca, and a Himalayan cat, Casey. In March, 1997, I gave birth to twin sons, Sean Joseph and Ryan John. In 2000, we had Connor Lewis. I am a member of the North Pittsburgh Mothers of Multiples Club.
My husband has converted me to a NASCAR fan. Thinking Jeff Gordon was "cute," I decided he'd be a good driver to cheer for. Little did I know how good he was. Now I have two reasons to follow him! I'm actually beating my husband in a Nascar Online Challenge, where you pick 6 drivers to follow. I don't know much about racing, but I'm beating Ed! That's because I have the WONDERFUL Jeff Gordon! I'm also a huge Pittsburgh sports fan. I love to watch the Steelers, Pirates & Penguins--especially when they win!
I have left teaching (for the time being) to take care of our children. I am very excited about having so much time to be with my kids. They sure keep me busy, but I enjoy every minute of it. Everyone knows twins are a lot of work, but they're also twice the fun!
