About Us

The FRIENDSHIP QUILTERS GUILD
A History

The Friendship Quilters Guild was founded in Southern Chester County in 1982, by a group of women taking a quilting class at a fabric shop in Russellville, PA. The guild now numbers over fifty, with members from both Pennsylvania and Maryland. And meets in the cafeteria of the Elk Ridge School in Oxford, PA.

Meetings offer show and tell, block of the month, hands on activities, programs presented by members of the guild and lectures presented by professional quilt artisans. Please check out our calendar.

Our charitable activities include:
	· Comfort Quilts - (Jennersville Hospital) for patients who have experienced unsuccessful births.
	· Children’s Quilts - (AI DuPont Children’s Hospital) for children who have long stays in the hospital
	· Quilts of Valor - for wounded soldiers
	· Christmas stockings – for the Neighborhood Services Center

The guild hosts a weekend retreat and 2 all day quilting events at Black Rock Retreat, outside of Quarryville, Lancaster County, PA.

The Guild has made quilts for the Diabetes Foundation, Ronald McDonald House, the Hemophiliac Foundation, as well as a domestic violence center. We have also made a signature quilt for the Oxford library and have held fundraising quilt shows for another local library. We created a wall hanging to commemorate Oxford’s 250th anniversary as well as other projects for many different charities.

The purpose of the Friendship Quilters guild is to encourage friendships, exchange ideas and share the love of quilting. We welcome anyone interested in quilting to learn more about our group.
