Article I: Code of Conduct
1. Wear the Covenant guild name with pride. Represent our guild with integrity. In game, our members are expected to show respect to other players and be helpful to others where and when possible. Accept all other guild members as fellow gaming enthusiasts first and foremost, that’s why we’re here. Respect each other.
2. As a member of Covenant, you must show respect to others in all public channels and on the website. Disagreements on how things get done are going to happen. That is OK. Simply remember that when you join a discourse in the public channels, on the website, or on any forums to make your point calmly and as clearly as you can. Be sure, however, to refrain from attacking someone or putting down his or her ideas. Flaming will not be tolerated, so please abstain from using such comments.
3. If you must defend yourself from flames in game, on our forums or other forums where you are representing our guild, do it with intellect and wit, not with name-calling or gutter trolling. State your case intelligently and if you don’t find agreement, so be it. Given our focus, it’s just a game anyway. Nothing on this level of triviality is worth such animosity.
4. We don’t limit speech here, but discussing some topics may bring some heated discussion. Heated discussions of this nature are not frowned on, but if guild chat becomes inundated with conversations to the point that it is disruptive to other members, you will be expected to cease publicly discussing topics others would rather not have in game in the public channels. Such things as politics, religion, or other emotionally charged topics are good examples of issues better taken to a private chat channel. If even just one person asks you to take the discussion to a private channel, you and the other conversation members will be expected to do so immediately.
5. Harassment of another player will not be tolerated. This includes following a player from zone to zone, shouting negative comments to the zone at large, changing characters to get around an /ignore command, or any other actions committed solely for the purpose of aggravating the other player. Any Covenant member found to have harassed another player will be removed from the guild.
6. Under NO circumstances is it acceptable to play using tactics that are considered "dirty" or "unfair." This includes Ninja Looting, Kill Stealing, and Training. Role-playing an evil character is no excuse for this type of behavior. Common sense and respect for others in a group situation must be used at all times. Any Covenant member found in dirty-play will be disciplined up to and including removal from the guild.
7. Begging for money, or items have no place in our ranks, so please do not attempt this type of behavior in or outside of the guild.
Article II: Maturity & Manners
1. Our members are generally 18 years of age or older. While do accept younger members however, they are ones who have demonstrated a level of maturity beyond their years.
2. We’re all playing the same games, be it the retail, pay to play games or a free to play game. Big or small, rich or poor, in Covenant we’re all the same. That is, we came here because we love to play games and have fun, not to submit ourselves to what in most cases are silly little punks at the other end of a keyboard, acting out their self-important ego trips.
3. Our members are responsible, self-sufficient, resourceful, loyal, trustworthy, confident people and are able to resolve their personal conflicts if any arise with other members.
4. While we may strive to be good, kind spirits, in Covenant you should arrive prepared for the beer-drinking, whiskey-swilling, Rum-guzzling raucousness one might find in a Texas roadhouse on a Saturday night. This doesn't mean we live to curse - it is meant as a warning that we are all adults, and the conversations may reflect that.If you think you can’t endure that, perhaps we’re not for you.
5. We are not interested in power struggles, or playing in an environment where we feel like we’ve enlisted in the military, so although end game content raids, guild events, etc, will be something our members will be expected to participate in if online, it will never be a mandatory requirement for guild members to long in and attend those events. Even though we strive to be the best of the best, we understand that Real Life, you know.. that thing you adventure into when you step away from the computer, comes first, as scary as it may be....
If you’re here for any reason other than to find fellow game enthusiasts to go forth and adventure with, stop reading, and please go away. To those of you still reading and still interested, welcome! You may just have walked in through the door of your new home. Kick off your shoes, get comfortable and have a seat by the fire.
Article III: Voice Chat in Game
1. Covenant offers free Ventrilo (Voice over IP chat) access to members. After your application has been approved for membership, you will gain access to this service. An administrator/Officer will make sure you have our server, port and password infromation. If this does not happen, track one of us down and we’ll make sure you get your access. The client is available for free at the Ventrilo website. So even if you don't have a microphone or headset, if your PC has sound built into it, you can still listen.
2. While it is obviously a personal choice on whether you use Ventrilo, guild events will be conducted using Ventrilo. Because all games themselves require a system capable of emitting sound, and because the Ventrilo client and account is free, and because one need not have a microphone to listen, everyone is at least capable of participating in guild chat output via Ventrilo. Therefore the only excuse for NOT using Ventrilo is refusal due to personal preference, and while that will be respected to an extent, the guild is hereby not obligated to make any additional provisions for people who refuse to use Ventrilo.
Article IV. Treasure and Looting Distribution
1.We are firm believers in the "Need Before Greed" (NBG) policy for the looting and the distribution of treasure. Members are encouraged to adhere to this policy when grouping with other guild mates or when grouping with players outside our guild.
Definitions:
- NBG (Need Before Greed): NBG means that a dropped item represents a upgrade to the character that you are currently playing at the time. That item will immediately replace the item that your character is currently using. It also means that the item is NOT being acquired for sale or trade. In some cases you may be asked to pass your replaced peice of equipment down to another guild member who it may be a upgrade for.
- Main Character: Each player will list a single character as their main character. This is the character that the player intends to play the most, advance, and equip above the other characters on the account. This is the character the player joined the guild with. Switching mains can be done but only with leadership approval.
- Alt Character: These are all other characters that may be played instead of the Main. In fairness to all, Alt characters do not have the same looting rights as Main Characters. Mains will Always come before Alts and have looting rights over all alt characters.
- Bot Character: Some players may choose to have multiple accounts. A Bot Character is a second character that is played at the same time as a main or an alt. (often referred to as "two-boxing".) A bot character does not have the same looting rights as Alt or Main characters.
2. Raid Treasure/Loot will be awarded by the officers at the time of drop. It is up to the raid leader and other officers to distribute the loot obtained from guild events/raids to those who are interested and are in need of the specified item as per our NBG policy. The leadership and officers understand that items need to be distributed throughout the guild membership to accomplish the goal of increasing the guilds overall strength, not just the strength of one or two members. We are only as strong as our weakest character. If you have any questions please contact a Officer for further explanation of this policy.
Article V: Forums
1. When you register on the forums you MUST use your in-game 'main' name in what ever game you are playing as your username or if you wish your real life name. This will help prevent confusion trying to work out who everyone is. If you have not selected your in-game name as your user name then let management know and we will make sure it gets changed for you.
2. All members of Covenant are expected to check the forums frequently. The Forums are a indespensible tool for spreading information to the guild as a whole. If a notice of something has been posted on the forums, the excuse of "i didnt know about that" will NOT be accepted. It is each members responsibility to make sure they keep up to date on guild activities, changes in rules and policies, etc. So Check the Forums Frequently (reads daily).
3. Inactive accounts (no forum activity for 60 days without posted notice to the leadership) will be deleted from the memberlist and be considered as left the guild by choice.
4. Forum management is not responsible for any material posted on this site by registered members, but will attempt to remove material that is deemed inappropriate. Racial epithets, harassment of members, and/or threats of violence or crime will not be tolerated. If you find material that is offensive, please inform a moderator.
~ Thanks, the Management
