Each day listed below describes our tentative itinerary for this bike tour. This is tentative for many reasons, but the biggest reason is that participants will have the opportunity to have an input into what we do and see each day.

Daily Itinerary

We will leave ELC @9:00am.

We will arrive in Washington, DC about 4:00pm.

We will stay overnight at:  First Trinity Lutheran Hostel (Reserved)

Day 1—July 13th—Travel to Washington, DC

Day 2—July 14th—Tour Washington, DC

Georgetown Visitors Center

Clara Barton Historical Site

Great Falls National Historic Park

We will stay overnight at a Hiker/Biker campsite along the trail.

Harpers Ferry

Monocacy Aqueduct

Antietam National Battlefield

· The Bloodiest One Day Battle in American History

We still stay at either:

·    Antietam Battlefield Campground

· Antietam Creek hiker/biker campsite

Antietam National Battlefield Continued.

Dam 4 detour (2.5 miles on road detour)

Mid point of C&O canal (mp 92)

Fort Frederick ,

· French & Indian War era stone fort

Western Maryland Rail-trail (asphalt)

Overnight: C&O Bicycle Bunkhouse Hancock, MD (Reserved)

· Showers and a bed

Western Maryland Rail-trail continued (Asphalt)

Paw Paw Tunnel

Oldtown

Overnight: Irons Mountain hiker/biker campsite.

Beginning of the Great Allegheny Passage

Overnight: Frostburg State University, Frostburg, MD  (Reserved)

We will spend Saturday taking in the sites of Washington, D.C.

This may include: WWII war memorial, Vietnam war memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Smithsonian (many opportunities) Much more…
