William Roger Dillon was born 29 September 1951, the third child of Alva William and Nellie Dornon Dillon. He graduated from Symmes Valley High School in 1969 and from Ohio State University in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. On 15 June 1973, he married Karen Thompson who was born in Cabell County, West Virginia, on 11 September 1954, the daughter of James Floyd and Doris Trippett Thompson Sr. Wm. Roger and Karen spent two years living in Winchester, Virginia, while he was employed with Abex Corporation. However, both wanted to return to the Lawrence County area where they were raised. In the fall of 1975, Roger accepted a position of Operations Engineer with the Columbia Gas Company of West Virginia. On 19 September 1978, their first child, William Nathaniel (Nathan) was born at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia. Almost two years later their second and last child was born at the same hospital, 21 May 1980, a daughter Heather Renee Dillon. Both children currently attend Symmes Valley #4 grade school at Linnville, Ohio. In 1984, Columbia Gas of West Virginia was bought out by Mountaineer Gas Company, and in 1985 Roger was transferred to the Charleston, West Virginia, office. However, Roger and Karen still make their home at Scottown, Lawrence County, Ohio. Roger has now been with the gas company over 14 years. Karen has sold Home Interiors for the past two years. Other jobs she has worked include the gas company, WOWK-TV, and teaching business classes at a local college.
