Information on marriage to Emma Eugenia Stephenson came from the Cabell County West Virginia Marriages 1851 - 1899 book produced by the KYOWVA Genealogical Society of Huntington, WV.

Information on marriage to Bertha Carter came from a Hensley Family History compiled by Jo Ann (Hensley) Smith of 1134 N. Jefferson Drive, Huntington, WV 25701.

The Cabell County Birth Records show an S. Hensley born to R. P. and Emma Hensley on 5/17/1879. All the known children seem to be accounted for unless this is a child that didn't live very long and is not recorded anywhere else.

Rufus was a resident of the Barboursville District throughout his life and one of the most prominent farmers of that area. He was a member of the Southern Methodist Church on Davis Creek and a member of the Barboursville Lodge I.O.O.F.
