SEPTEMBER, 2008

Sept. 8 (Mon.) -- 1:00 p.m. DAYTIME BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP, at the home of Stephanie Duke. Book assigned for discussion: All the King's Men, by Robert Penn Warren. Contact Virginia Jeandrevin, johvir@zoominternet.net for more information.

Sept. 16 (Tues.) -- 6:30 p.m. EVENING BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP  (PLEASE NOTE -- THIS IS A CHANGE OF DATES) will meet at the home of Pat Chaloupek for its fall organizational session. We will discuss books read over the summer. Bring suggestions for this year's book list. New members welcome! Contact Chaloupek at pchal@zoominternet.net .

Sept. 20 (Sat.) -- 8:00 p.m. ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT GROUP will attend the first recital in the Main Street Medina Artist Series in Broadway Hall, of the Medina County Administration Building, Medina. The program for the evening is the noted pianist Sedmara Zakarian Rutstein who will perform an all-Russian concert. Purchase tickets on your own at Buehler's stores in advance ($25; $20 for Seniors). Ticket holders may attend the special Russian menu dinner offered at Main Street Cafe prior to the performance. If interested, contact Marilyn Sigel, DAMARFARM@aol.com , by Sept. 15. The Cafe is offering a $20 restaurant certificate for $10 to subscribers for this night only.  

Sept. 23 (Tues.) -- 1:30 p.m. MOVIES AND MUNCH. For this occasion, we will view a DVD version of the film, IRON JAWED ANGELS, starring Hilary Swank, at the home of Carol Cary, Medina. This film, based on the true story of political activists Alice Paul and Lucy Burns in their struggle to gain the right for women to vote, received much acclaim. Confirm your attendance with Carol.

 Sept. 25 (Thurs.) -- 7:00 p.m. MEMBERSHIP MEETING, The Reserve Building, 3637 Medina Rd., Medina, Lower Level Meeting Room. To kick off this first fall meeting, AAUW/ Ohio President Diane Regan will offer insight from the latest Association research publication, Where the Girls Are: The Facts about Gender Equity in Education, a report on the relationship of girls' and boys' progress in education in the last 35 years.  Come and meet Diane and find out what's new in our Ohio organization. HOLD THIS DATE: Oct. 24 (Thurs.) 12 noon, River Styx Grille (Blue Heron Golf Club), Medina. Biennial AGENT OF CHANGE Awards Luncheon. Keynote speaker will be Main Street Medina Executive Director, Matt Wiederhold. Guests and public welcome. Reservations required by Oct. 13.
