| The Amateur Radio on the International Space Station (ARISS) has its first sked with a school on December 19th. The summary appears on the League's home page. Full story: Full Story. |
| A December 8th Solar Update from K7VVV also is summarized on the League home page, with the Full Story "inside." |
| It doesn't look like there's any News under today's dateline in Members Only. December items listed there bear datelines of December 9th and 5th. |
|
The new site is more in line with the familiar magazine cover, which should improve
users' "comfort zones", HI! Seriously, market research does demonstrate a strong
correlation in this. Besides, the new home page is much more colorful.
Neat! The page highlights both December 2000 and January 2001. And each magazine cover is a link to that issue. |
| The three top stories at News from CQ include: |
| This site also includes a "What's New" page, but a quick check there shows that the "news" ... isn't. The most recent item there is dated November 17th. |
| The Subscribe to CQ page is a nice feature. Requires a credit card (which you would expect), but otherwise is very handy. I'm surprised, though, that the form does not include data on whether the subscription is new or a renewal. |
| I've just covered the basics of the site. There's lots more, so surf on over there. |

This is DARA's 50th event! So, you can bet it'll be a real bash!
Nominations for the following are now open until January 31, 2001:
Check out Click here for more information. |
|
The site is full of links, from Lodging to Prizes; from Maps to Forums. As the site says,
"If you can't find it at Dayton, you'll never find it!"
If there's any remote chance you'll be heading to Dayton May 18 - 20, 2001, by all means Run, don't walk to Hamvention and bookmark it right away. Then be sure to check the site regularly. |
Software available at CSS for amateur use includesL
|
| You also can subscribe online to the free CSS-L newsletter by simply completing the online request form. |
|
So, now are you happy? I'll be happy to review this site, but just so you know,
DON'T follow the URL from the December issue of QST. It's wrong!
I emailed the webmaster of the Orlando ARC and he forwarded my email along to the HamCation webmaster, who sent me the correct URL: http://www.oarc.org/hamcation/hamcat.html .

The 'fest is sked for February 9, 10, & 11, 2001, and will be held at the Central
Florida Fairgrounds. The program for this year's event includes:
|
| The website also includes links to the necessary pages (among them): |
| Well, looks like The Orlando ARC has things well-in-hand. Good luck, gang! |
| Their page heading says SPI-RO's business is Multi-Band Antennas. I was going to run through each heading, but there are just too many, so I'll list the category links here and you can check them out when you can: |
| There are other products as well, including: |
| There's more to this site, but this should give you a pretty good picture. Go there! |
|
Well, it's certainly a busy page, HI! Aha!! Here's a goody -- Alinco 2m Radio. Wheww! Hope that link works. It's gotta be the longest URL
I've ever seen HI, HI!
But, when I came back to the home page, the 2m Handie image wasn't there anymore. Now it's something called "Mega-byte Hound" ... whatever THAT is! Oh well, I WAS going to pass along some of the info from the Alinco page, but now I can't get back to it. Sorry...tell Radio Shack about it, HI! |
| Another interesting feature is the Gift Finder link. |
Here, you get to open pop-down windows to identify who you're buying for
After entering this info, click on the Find button to start the search. Or, click on the R button (which seems to take you back to the "top-of-form." Or, click on Clear to reset the selections. |
| Ok, back at the home page...at the left side is a Product Catalog section, with each category being a link to an associate page. I'm not gonna take you there....another of those marathon URL link strings! Check them out yourself. |
Oh, almost missed it. At the very top of the page:
Checking out What's on Sale, I see:
There are several other categories, but I figured these were of most interest to hams, and, you get the idea. All-in-all, this site is pretty neat! Certainly worth a visit....and probably well worth bookmarking. |
If you missed earlier editions, check out the Archives
