A brand-new release from Moonglo Publishing on April 15, 2009, Oil, Blood, and Mud, An Adventure in Pithole City by Paul K. Cashdollar, ISBN 978-0-9706679-2-2, is now available and ready for purchase.  This timely fictional story released during the 150th year anniversary of the discovery of oil, is sure to please anyone interested in oil and the development of an oil boomtown.

Abram Brinker, a Civil War veteran, returns home to find his fiancée has married another man.  Readjusting to civilian life is difficult enough, but living in the same town is just too much.  After trying his hand at farming again, he is lured to the possibility of employment and adventure in a brand new area in the Oil Creek Valley, just a few miles from where Col. Drake first discovered oil in Titusville, PA.  Pithole City has sprung to life in a desolate field where a new strike has been made.  People are flocking to the area from all over with hopes of striking it rich.  Abe has no such illusions; he is merely seeking a change of scenery and a chance to make an honest living.

Pithole City grew from nothing more than a farm in January 1865, to a booming town of 15,000 residents by September of the same year.  Success was short-lived, however, as the oil ran out, fires burned much of the town, and a few short years later barely fifty people remained.  Today, only the outlines of the streets and a few depressions in the ground where cellars were dug, are all that remains of this once thriving city.

Experience what it was like as you travel with Abe to a town as wild as any in the Old West.

Here are stories of real American heroes, former POWs in Germany.  Millions of soldiers fought in World War II, and hundreds of thousands were captured during various battles or when their planes were shot down.  Some of those prisoners were executed, but most were sent to prisoner of war camps.  Some died or were murdered in the camps, but most suffered because of conditions in the camps, a lack of food, medicine, and hygiene.  Here are stories of sixteen former POWs from Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio as they relive their ordeals of more than sixty years ago in vivid detail.  Listen to their stories of camp life and experience their sense of humor that endured through the worst of times.  Hear stories of comradeship, perseverance, and patriotism.  But most of all remember the sacrifices they made for the freedom we enjoy today.
