CURRENT TRACKPLAN

The drawing above shows my current track plan. The smaller room contains the CSX mainline that follows the Youghiogheny River. Although it is hard to see in the drawing it is a double track mainline(click on drawing to enlarge). Normally westbound trains use the track furthermost from the river (track #1) while eastbound trains use the track closest to the river (track #2). The Connellsville Yard and points east are represented by the looped staging area in a separate room from the mainline tracks of the model. Here trains are assembled & disassembled by hand. Trains travel from here west on track #1 past the abandoned distillery at Broadford(Bldg. 2) and follow the windy path of the river through the small towns of Dawson, Smithton and West Newton, and then disappear as they travel into the hidden, looped staging area that is underneath the Generic Coal Mine branch. This staging area represents points west, eg., Pittsburgh and Chicago. The train usually will stop in one of the sidings in this hidden staging area and then resume running at some later time on track #2 with the train now representing an eastbound train. CSX work trains will service Jones Brewery at Smithton and the Generic coal mine. The plan represents the prototype faithfully (compare with map) except work trains no longer service Jones Brewery, and, although there are many coal mines in the area, none are serviced by the railroad.

The SWP Shortline trains are assembled & disassembled by hand in the Connellsville Yard staging areas. They travel between the Connellsville Yard and their customers on the various sub-branches of the Shortline which are mostly located in the room adjacent to the one that contains the CSX mainline.
