Unit 226    Yalta Extended Teams League

The extended teams league is a team event that will meet once per month for six months providing an opportunity for players to gain some experience at team play.  Teams may consist of 4, 5 or 6 members.  Substitutes may be used during the course of the season and a list will be made available shortly after the field for the league is set.  Each team will have an established team captain who will shoulder the responsibility of fielding the team for play each month.  Each team will play six matches using victory point scoring (30).  The top teams will be those that accumulate the most VP's throughout the season.  Wins and losses will not be a factor except in the case of ties.  Teams failing to field their team for a match will render a forfeit to the opposing team.  Scoring a forfeit will award 80% of the non-offending teams average VP per match or 20 out of 30 possible (whichever is higher).  Non-ACBL team members will be assigned 500 MP's in ACBL SCORE for the purpose of handicapping.

A match will consist of 26 boards played in two 13-board segments with an opportunity for each team to compare their current score and make adjustments to the composition of their team.  Teams will be handicapped using ACBL SCORE and the total masterpoints for the team.  Team members will be required to play at least ½ of the matches to validate the handicapping and be eligible for the overall masterpoint awards.  ACBL SCORE will select the team match-ups at the conclusion of each subsequent match each month.

The league will be structured as a bracketed (individual A and B flights) league if 16 or more teams participate and alternately as a stratified A/B league if less than 14 teams participate.  Note: Brackets will be formed with 8 teams per bracket if possible.  This will ensure a match each month for every team.  Brackets may be expanded but not contracted and will be adjusted by relative masterpoint holdings for the teams such that teams are placed in an appropriately competitive field for competition.

The league will meet at St. Brigid Church at 7:00 pm on the first Monday of each month except for possible adjustments due to holidays on the calendar. The table fee for each match will be $12 per match with the first and last two matches paid at the start of league play.  [$36 per team in week one.] 

Match results, league standings, and the next months match ups will be posted on the league website and at the play site each week following the matches for that month
