Judges needed for Ice Dragon 2012

Ice Dragon is just around the corner. :-)
... and with the excitement and preparation for the event comes the annual tradition of
asking for volunteers to judge entries in the A&S competition.

It's the judges and entrants that really make this competition something special!!
So ... If you are not planning on entering the competition, please consider judging.

  • The event will take place in the Rhydderich Hael on Saturday, March 24th, 2012.

  • There is no prerequisite for a judge to have received any award.

  • Judges should be knowledgeable about the category they are scoring.

  • Judges must be fair and ethical.
We ask that you do not judge under the following conditions:
    1. Your spouse, family member or significant other has entered an item in your category.
    2. You are entered in the competition yourself ...
,,,,,,even if you are judging a category you have nothing in.
    3. You feel you cannot be objective while judging work you suspect is familiar to you.

  • Those new to judging may request a mentor. This is a person who will help you with the judging process. - Independant scoring and written commentary will be required from every judge, regardless of experience.

  • The use of rubrics as a scoring guideline is optional for judges.
Rubrics will be available for the categories that have them ...
,,,,,,and for the use of judges who desire to use them.
More information on rubrics and how they will be used this year is available here

  • Judges will need to check in with the competition staff between 10-11:00.

  • Judging will begin at 11.

The competition area will be closed to the public for 1 hour
    (from 11-noon)

This is to allow the judges to get started in less hectic surroundings.
Though judging may still be in progress until 3:00,
the room will reopen to the public at noon
for *quiet viewing* of the entries.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy doing...
please contact the Judging Coordinator, Mistress Alison of the Many Isles
Don't forget to include the categories you are interested in judging.

Please send all other queries about the competition to
Sir Aengus MacBain the A&S Competition Coordinator
